Somewhere, it’s a gorgeous day for a picnic. Maybe where you are! Maybe where your special someone lives. Seriously, picnic baskets have come a long way since the days when I was young. Now they come with everything already there and organized for you. Many even have a holder for a bottle of wine. During the shelter-at-home time is the perfect time to pack a picnic lunch with a family member and head outside to enjoy it. So maybe you can’t go to the public parks to do this. Certainly there is a lovely piece of nature somewhere nearby where you can relax and shut the rest of the world out. Pack snacks or a full meal. Bring along a game or a book to read aloud. Play some music and close your eyes. Whatever you choose, enjoy it and relax. I’ve collected together some of my favorite picnic baskets to share with you guys. Have one of your own or a vintage one you’d love to share? Please show me!
If you’re looking for something simple and classic that won’t break the band, this natural wicker picnic basket is a great choice. It comes with serving stuff for four, salt and pepper, a wine opener, and holders for the wine glasses so they won’t break. A solid choice for a classic picnic basket!
If you’re looking for the convenience of a picnic basket that is much easier to carry, then a backpack style may be what you’re after. I love the fold open compartment on this and the wine holder. Also the blanket on the side. It’s all so perfect. It’s kind of like somebody thought about what would work best and put it together. This is a great choice for camping or treks a bit farther away from the car.
If an insulated tote is more what you’re after, this tote/picnic basket combo is perfect. It’s got the fold open side with all the utensils and such and a nice insulated area inside so your food will stay cool, even on hot days. Take time for a nap and enjoy a snack afterward (or a glass of wine that will stay cool inside). A nice easy-to-carry strap makes it a solid choice.
If you are looking for something a little more upscale, then this picnic basket is calling your name. I love the elegance of this one. It’s like something you’d see on the British countryside in a romantic landscape. It’s service for 2, making it great for a couple’s getaway.
On the backpack front, this neon green backpack spoke to me. I adore the bright green colors and think it would be perfect for a picture on the beach. Again, it has the nice wine carrier on one side and a blanket on the other. Easy to carry and great for a fun day out!
